How Can EarShot Assist My Orchestra?

 

If your orchestra wants to enhance its work with today's composers, EarShot wants to help. EarShot can support your efforts with no-cost administrative, production and technical assistance, and even provide a subsidy towards your production expenses.

Below are a few examples of how EarShot may be able to help. But we encourage you to contact us to discuss your own ideas and plans.

Example 1
New Music Readings

Your orchestra would like to to do more for promising composers, and you have one or two unused services with your contracted musicians.

EarShot could help you create a New Music Reading Program, working with your staff to design and produce the program. EarShot can get the word out to composers, handle the submissions and score review, provide mentors and workshops. And EarShot will provide up to $2,000 toward your production expenses.

Composer Competition

Your music director thinks it would exciting to program a new piece by a composer that your orchestra has "discovered." But where to start?

EarShot can help you organize a young composer competition. We can work with you to design a program that reaches the right composers and advise you on best practices. EarShot can handle the selection process, and assist your conductor in selecting the winner. Your program is promoted as part of EarShot's network providing added visibility to your orchestra.

Composer Residency

Your has programmed music by a contemporary composer next season, and you want plan a to bring the composer to town. You want to create a rich experience for the composer and your community.

EarShot can work with you to help plan a residency, consult with you about options and community partners, and share ideas and best practices from our vast experience in the field.

Youth Orchestra Program

You want your youth orchestra members to gain experience with contemporary music, and working with living composers, but you've got limited staff and no budget.

EarShot can organize a youth orchestra program that brings a mentor composer and mentor instrumentalists to work with your students. We'll provide administrative coordination and advice, helping you to create a rich learning experience for young players and composers alike.
